Note on Husband: John Hole COULTON

A report in the South Wales Police Gazette dated 17 April 1895 states that John Hole COULTON broke out of his ship HMS Mildura in Sydney between 8 and 9pm and is wanted for desertion. Described as being 5ft 11in tall, dark hair beard and moustache with a quantity of sores and tattoos on back of both hands. 24th April he was reported to have been arrested. The Sydney Morning Herald reported on May 7th John was court martialled on the Wallaroo and sentenced to be dismissed from the Service for desertion and breach of discipline (embezzlement). Died before 1919.
